My passion for growing flowers dates back to when I first moved to Maine 20 years ago.  I worked at a local garden center for 8 years in various roles on the greenhouse and landscape teams.  When it was time to begin our family, I realized I wanted a career path that would allow me more flexibility in the summer (which with Maine's limited growing season was hard to do at the garden center!)  So back to school I went and began a career in finance. 

But the pull of the garden could not be resisted and in 2020 I began growing flowers to sell to local florists in the Mount Desert Island and Ellsworth areas.  I continue to grow a variety of flowers used by both standard and event florists, but my passion is in growing dahlias.  Their beauty and variety is unmatched!

In 2024, Downeast Dahlias became an officially licensed Maine Nursery and can sell dahlia tubers to all US states.  I look forward to sharing all of the wonderful varieties that I grow!
